Mattea Reinisch

Dr Mattea Reinisch began her medical career in 2007 as a resident physician in the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Helios Klinikum Berlin-Buch, Germany. In 2009, she transitioned to the German Breast Group in Neu-Isenburg, where she worked in the Medicine and Research Department. From 2010 to 2014, she continued her residency at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Bürgerhospital Frankfurt am Main, where she obtained board certification as a specialist in gynaecology and obstetrics in June 2013. In July 2014, Dr Reinisch joined the Breast Centre at Kliniken Essen-Mitte (KEM), one of Germany’s largest breast centres. She held various positions over the years, progressing from specialist to senior physician, and ultimately serving as deputy clinic director and head of the Interdisciplinary Breast Centre (2018–2024). She has acted as principal investigator for over 40 phase II and III clinical trials and has been involved in regulatory inspections and external audits. Since 2019, Dr Reinisch has been certified as a senior breast surgeon by the German Cancer Society. In 2020, she obtained a sub specialisation in gynaecologic oncology. She completed her habilitation/PhD at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin in December 2022, earning her Venia Legendi. In August 2024, Dr Reinisch assumed the role of head of the Senology Section and director of the Interdisciplinary Breast Centre at the University Medical Centre Mannheim. Dr Reinisch regularly updates her GCP certification and has completed advanced training in breast ultrasound, genetic counselling and radiation protection. She received the MERIT Award (ESMO 2019) and the Poster Award (DGS 2021). As founder of ‘West GOBreast’, she launched the KEM study network website in 2022. Recognised as a leading specialist, she has been featured in Stern’s ‘Germany’s Outstanding Regional Doctors’ (2023–2025) and Focus Top Physician (2024–2025). Since 2024, she has been an advisory board member of AWOGyn and a founding member of the OncoNet South-West Study Network. Dr Reinisch is also an active member of AGO, DEGUM, DGGG, DKG and ESMO, and contributes to the German Breast Group (GBG) sub-board for adjuvant and neoadjuvant therapies.
