Javier Pascual López
Javier Pascual, MD, is a medical oncologist specialising in breast cancer. He graduated from the University of Seville, Spain, with a degree in medicine and earned a Master’s degree from the University of Girona, Spain, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Institute of Cancer Research at the University of London, UK. He currently works as a clinician-scientist in the University Hospital Virgen de la Victoria and the Malaga Biomedical Research Institute, Spain, where he combines clinical duties (mainly treating patients with breast cancer), coordination of the breast cancer clinical trial programme, research activities as principal investigator of the Translational Liquid Biopsies Laboratory, and institutional work as scientific director of the Cancer Molecular Biology Laboratory. His main interests are the treatment of patients with breast cancer based on tumour biology, especially in the context of clinical trials, and the use of new techniques for detection of molecular alterations (mainly through liquid biopsies in plasma) for clinical decision making in cancer care.
